O'Grady's father was Jim O'Grady. Her mother, Jan, was a financial planner. Her birthplace was in Detroit in Michigan. She was the child of Jan and Jim O'Grady, a financial planner. Before moving to Los Angeles, she appeared in a variety of commercials. O'Grady started her career by modeling for Montgomery Ward and making commercials.
